This walking tour will look at aspects of the development of the railways in York. During the nineteenth century York became the hub for lines to the North East and Scotland. We will examine the role of the key players in bringing the railways to York and look at the places where they lived and worked. The most notorious of these entrepreneurs was George Hudson the “Railway King”. Railway hotels and offices are also included together with a look at the Grade II* railway station itself. The walk will end at the National Railway Museum for further individual exploration. A must for every railway enthusiast!
