The Hope Valley Art Trail by Rail project encourages residents and visitors to explore the Hope Valley’s art, culture, and local businesses using sustainable transport—by train, bus, and on foot. Timed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the modern railway in 2025, the project is a collaboration between Hope Valley Climate Action, the Community Rail Partnership, Friends of the Hope Valley railway stations and local Artists and businesses.
This event is hosted by the charity Hope Valley Climate Action as part of their ‘Move More Hope Valley’ initiative, which encourages and supports people to incorporate more physical activity into their everyday journeys.
At its heart will be an engaging illustrated art trail map, available both online and in print. The trail will launch with a special event on Saturday 27th September, featuring activities led by local artists and inviting people to hop on and off the scenic railway, connect with local villages, and take part in creative experiences along the route.
The event aims to:
-Inspire and support the community in being more active by travelling by foot, bus and rail within the Hope Valley through the theme of creativity and art
-Improve social connectivity within the community by sharing creative opportunities and areas of interest across the Hope Valley
-Support the local economy by reducing car use in the valley and encouraging residents and visitors to use local businesses, which may not be normally advertised.
