On the 21st February 1804, the first ever steam powered journey took place right here in Merthyr – the start of the “Railway Age”. This year is Railway 200 across the UK to celebrate the first passenger journey in Stockton and Darlington. The Three Valleys Community Rail Partnership is celebrating our local history throughout 2025.
