Charity partner: Alzheimer’s Research UK

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding treatments and ultimately a cure for a disease that affects nearly 1 million people across the country.

Without action, one in two of us will either develop dementia, care for someone who does, or both.

Why your help matters

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, and yet research into its causes and treatments is underfunded. Alzheimer’s Research UK is changing that – and your support through Railway 200 helps power the cutting-edge science that could prevent future generations from facing this devastating condition.

Frank and Alison’s story

Frank and Alison

Frank was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2020 – a painful and disorienting time for him and his wife Alison. Wanting to help others in the same position, they’ve taken part in 15 research studies to date. Their participation is contributing to vital work that could transform how the disease is diagnosed and treated. Their story shows how personal courage fuels scientific progress – and how donations help fund the research behind it.

“We are helping families in the future who will be able to live lives free of the pain and sadness of dementia – why wouldn’t we do that?
