A historical fiction creative writing workshop celebrating 200 years of rail travel its thrills, dangers and romance.

This workshop will focus on the Great Western Railway (GWR) founded in 1833 a company ‘engineered by’ Isambard Kingdom Brunel that linked London to the west and southwest of England and Wales. It will include the role of Newton About railway station (opened in 1846) and known until 1877 when it became part of GRW 1846 as Newton and famous locomotives and train services that ran on the line like the Cornish Riveria Express and the passengers who travelled by train.
Myfanwy is currently the New Voices column editor for the Historical Novels Review magazine and runs workshops to encourage aspiring writers and published writers who would like to experiment with historical fiction writing with a local twist and global appeal. Her most recent workshop focused on: Transforming the ‘real life’ stories of local 19th century miners into fiction with a global appeal.
