At the County Hotel in Hexham, an afternoon of spoken word to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the world’s first public railway. At the heart of the event is the launch of the Stephenson 200 Anniversary Edition of the novel, ‘Mr Stephenson’s Regret’ by David Williams, with a talk and readings by the author. The afternoon will also feature a rich variety of prose, poetry, drama, perhaps even music, from open-mic contributors. Come along to listen or even put yourself forward for an open mic spot on any related theme e.g. rail or other transport, industrial or regional heritage, local heroes… the interpretation is up to you. The event will be hosted by performance poet and regular Words on the Wall host, Joe Williams, and is free! No booking required, but it would help to let us know in advance if you are going or interested. Start time 3pm.
