Station Tour of London Victoria

heritagecareersfamily

To commemorate 200 years of the modern railway we are launching a programme of tours with popular tour guide and author Rachel Kolsky. At three iconic London termini – Waterloo, Victoria and London Bridge – we will celebrate rail’s remarkable past, its role today and its importance to a sustainable future they will focus on four key themes: Culture, Heritage & Tourism, Railway People, Education & Skills and Innovation, Technology & Environment
Gateway to the Continent: Victoria
Two stations built side by side for different companies, eventually merged in the 1920s and for many people Victoria was from where they embarked on their first continental journey using the Night Ferry to France. There was glamour with the Orient Express travelling across Europe and the Imperial Airways Terminal put Victoria on map for air travel too. Intertwined are stories linked to WWI, beloved books and films, a luxury hotel and your guide Rachel’s own travel memories.
