Chemin de fer 200 : Bobines et rails

patrimoine

Celebrate 200 years of Britain’s railways with a unique programme of Britain’s greatest railway films, presented and selected by BFI Archive Curator Steven Foxon and historian Tim Dunn.

Discover how railways and cinema have evolved side by side, from the first moving-picture record of a British train and the iconic, lyrical Night Mail to footage of the InterCity 125. This programme takes a journey through time: so climb aboard and explore the enduring bond between reels and rails in this rich, visually stunning programme.

Steve has has a long association with railways and film; and Tim is not known for being unenthusiastic about these topics… they’ve had a lot of fun choosing what to cram into two hours, so expect an evening of joy, great film-making, classics and lesser-seen gems – all shown on the big screen of NFT1 at the South Bank. Not to be missed.

Starts 18:10 on Tuesday 2nd September.
