Devon Rural Archive: display celebrating 200 years of the modern railway

heritage

The Devon Rural Archive at Shilstone has a display board celebrating the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, featuring unique images (photographs, maps, postcards) from across Devon that we hold in our Image Bank. Come and have a look at the display and browse a selection of books on the history of railways in Devon.

The Devon Rural Archive is an independent heritage centre open to the public for the study of Devon’s buildings and landscapes. It provides access to a unique collection of materials, including books, maps, oral history recordings and documents, relating to the history of the county, and hosts a programme of public events. The Archive and its work is entirely funded by the Fenwick Charitable Trust (Charity Number 1007957).
