We are holding a walk and talk, on 17th May beginning at 11. 00 am and ending at 1. 00 pm as part of Local History Month, The Discover Middlesbrough Festival and the railway 200 celebrations. There are a number of people resting within the cemetery who worked for the North Eastern Railway and the London and North Eastern Railway. There are also some Quakers associated with the Stockton and Darlington Railway. Railway guard George Petch who died in the Thirsk Railway Crash in November 1892 is also buried in the cemetery. There are people who died in the bombardment of Hartlepool while working on the Railway on 16th December in 1914 and some who died in the bombing of Middlesbrough Railway Station on Monday 3rd August 1942. These will all be part of the illustrated presentation and walk by local historian and Member of The Friends of Linthorpe Cemetery and Nature Reserve, Ian Stubbs.
