Bekonscot Light Railway is a small 7.25 inch gauge railway situated at Bekonscot, the world’s oldest original model village.
Bekonscot’s founder, Mr Roland Callingham, was a keen railway enthusiast so the current keepers of the model village and railway are keen to celebrate Railway 200 in his name.
On the 200th day of 2025 – Saturday 19th July – Bekonscot Light Railway will run an intensive service for 200 hours (approx. 31 days) to commemorate this important anniversary in our social history.
We will charge 200p per ride with 10% of all funds being donated to the Railway Children Charity. This is in accordance with Mr Callingham’s legacy of donating all surplus funds to support local charities.
