The 200th anniversary of the modern railway is being celebrated in style with a huge flashmob in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square.

More than 100 young people and adults from schools, colleges and special needs organisations across the city are expected to take part.

It’s all happening in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square on Tuesday 17 June at 11.30 am.

“We’ll be showcasing 200 years of the modern railway through costume, movement and dance as well as celebrating the railway today and all the fantastic opportunities it has to offer,” said City of Portsmouth College Special Needs Coach Sarah Hume, who’s co-ordinating the event.

“A huge thank you to the Great Western Railway Customer and Community Improvement Fund for supporting our project and helping make this happen”

It’s also been rumoured that a very special guest could be joining in the fun – watch this space!

The theme of the flashmob is Railway 200 – A Ride Through Time.
