St John Ambulance and the Railway: Keeping care on track

heritage

This free lunchtime talk at the Museum of the Order of St John uncovers the vital and often overlooked role St John Ambulance has played in keeping Great Britain’s railways safe.

This talk explores the organisation’s long-standing partnership with the railway network – from early first aid posts at busy stations to the training of railway staff and emergency response teams. Learn how volunteers brought life-saving care to trackside incidents, how they supported the operation of hospital trains and how their legacy continues to shape safety standards on the rail today.

This is a free, relaxed event. Drop-ins are welcome, or you can pre-register through Eventbrite. The event will take place in the Museum Galleries which are on ground level with step-free access throughout.
