Special museum evening with railway history: the most important passenger and freight transport system started from Great Britain all over the world ! Historical lecture, photos and videos, alternating with railway songs performed by Col. Reb Custer, let visitors experience an informative and entertaining evening.
The America Line Depot Monument is the only historically remaining railway station of the America Line in Germany. This railway connected Berlin with Bremen – Bremerhaven and Hamburg – Cuxhaven seaports.
Halfway to Bremerhaven, the Ebstorf depot was station of care and relief for the passengers while the locomotives got refueled. Since 1873 millions of European emigrants were boarding sailboats, vessels, ocean liners, mostly via Southampton, to USA, Canada and South American destinations.
This monumentally saved depot today houses the museum of the America Line with event programs of museum guides on weekends and historical evening shows, which visitors can join by German railway regional trains RB 37, station “Ebstorf / Uelzen”.
