The Fen Line Users Association (FLUA) represents users of the railway line between King’s Lynn and Cambridge and this year celebrates its 40th Anniversary. In a joint event to celebrate our anniversary and Railway 200 we will be having a stand at Watlington station on 5th May 2025 from 9am to 1pm. This day marks the 50th Anniversary of the reopening of Watlington station following a well-run campaign by local residents, who not only raised most of the money to allow this to happen but also did much of the work themselves, including clearing vegetation and painting the station buildings! It remains a fine example of the railway and community working together. At 11am there will be a cake cutting ceremony by Kate Carpenter, who was involved with the project back in 1975, followed by the unveiling of commemorative plaques on Platforms 1 and 2. The event has been generously sponsored by Great Northern, who operate services at the station, from their Railway 200 fund.
