A celebratory launch party for a new GWR-funded railway heritage archive created by the Folklore Library & Archive (reg. charity no 1203418), which strives to preserve “hidden” heritage by recording people’s rail-related memories and stories, as well as archiving photos, video, slides and cine film from personal, and thus previously unseen, collections.
The gala will showcase the work undertaken by the FLA in order to create the archive, as well as celebrating its partnership working with other local organisations. There will be exhibits, a chance to interact with the new archive, VR, music performances and a buffet. There will also be an opportunity to contribute a memory to the archive during the event.
The archive will be freely available to all researchers, rail enthusiasts and the general public.
