As a tiny floral Village we’ve never had any rail connectivity. However, since BIB have decided to commemorate the 200 year anniversary of rail travel we have been caught up in the romance of the old railway systems, in particular the charm and nostalgic appeal associated with traditional steam railways and their historical significance.
In order for our village to support such a theme we decided to build a railway station as a floral display. It’s platform is around 12 meters in length with a 1.4 meter wide platform. It will have a narrow gauge track 36” wide on sleepers. We have built buffers for one end of the track and a semaphore signal to add to the authenticity. The platform will be complete with a bench, a Victorian lamp post, adorned with flowers in planters and multi coloured clematis growing on a purpose made trelliss fence. The station will be called FILBY HALT. We propose to advertise the The station is sited in a prominent position in the village of Filby on the busy A1064 and will remain in place from mid May until October 2025.
