Friends of Maud Railway Museum: Stockton and Darlington Presentation

heritagefamily

Maud Railway Museum has been active for 30 years and gives visitors a chance to learn all about the history of our railways. This year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first passenger railway service with a presentation which tells the story of how this great moment came to be. We also showcase a diorama of the suspension bridge over the river Tyne which was created by studying an artists impression of Locomotion No.1 pulling coal waggons across the bridge. A photo album details the various steps in creating our diorama. Both adults and children will find some or all of this interesting. The presentation runs on a tablet which automatically takes you slowly through the story but you can speed this up just by touching screen. Once the visitor has experienced this, they can take a ride on our very own miniature train line to get a feel for the real thing.
