Gordon Hill Station’s 115 birthday celebrations

heritagespecial

Friends of Gordon Hill Station are giving away 200 small cakes (with the Railway 200 logo,) to morning travelers. It is 115 years since this part of the Hertford Loop was opened. On 4th April 1910, the Cuffley extension was opened with its new stations; Grange Park, Enfield, Gordon Hill, Crews Hill and Cuffley. The majority of trains turned back at Gordon Hill, with 16 going through to Cuffley. We plan to start around 8:00 am on Friday 4th April. Friday’s are our volunteer gardening morning. The Friends of Gordon Hill Railway Station began in December 2021. We are a volunteer group formed by the Enfield Society. We work with Great Northern, Community Rail Network, local businesses and community groups. Through our work we promote local endeavours, local businesses, local heritage ( including our pillbox and anti tank blocks) and the environment. Come anytime to see our co-designed map and Jubillee mosaic. There is an exhibition in the waiting room about the Station, poetry, children’s art, plants and flowers and a biodiversity window.
