As the control at Haslemere is migrated to Basingstoke Route Operating Centre, we will be turning the old mechanical signalling box into a heritage facility to preserve this facility for future generations. We will be using the signal box and the surrounding areas to both house railway memorabilia, as well as creating a memorial garden to the 636 railway personnel who lost their lives in WWII – as 2025 is the 80th anniversary of VE/VJ Days, as well as the 200th anniversary of the railways.
