Irish Mail exhibition

heritage

An immersive model railway exhibition at Penmaenmawr Museum will mark the 75th anniversary of the Irish Mail train crash in the town.

Six people were killed and dozens injured when the Irish Mail collided with a stationary engine in August 1950 while travelling from Holyhead to Euston.

The exhibition is on display at Penmaenmawr Museum throughout the day and also features an animated re-enactment of the moments leading up to the crash using model trains and audio description to explain how it happened.
