Look Draw Build@Reading Station is a project which, since 2022, has engaged some 450 children, mainly in Year 5, in 10 Reading Primary schools, 15-18 classes each year, practically in Engineering, Architecture and the history and future of the Railways. It is run by Archi-Adventure of Barcelona and Reading Civic Society.
In 2025 the project became Look Draw Build@ Reading & Bristol Stations as it will also be delivered to Bristol schools for the first time.
The Reading leg of the project was undertaken during February and March, shown as separate events on this site.
During April and May it will be delivered to 9 Bristol Primary schools, 14 classes of year 5 children. The participating schools, from across Bristol, are; Badocks Wood E-ACT Academy, Christ Church CE Primary, Sea Mills Primary, Compass Point Primary, Cotham Gardens Primary, St Peter and Paul RC Primary, Our Lady of the Rosary RC Primary. Stoke Bishop CE Primary and Two Mile Hill Primary.
The project starts after Easter when we will ask the teachers to show the participating classes a specially commissioned video about the history of the railway and key features of a station.
Between 24 April and 2nd May the classes will be taken around Bristol Temple Meads Station by GWR Senior Accessibility Mentor. He will explain the history of the station, the important features of a station and the key message of safety on the railway. Where required we fund the transport of the children to the station and back.
Next step, building model stations in class, will be in a future post.
