Mickleover Model Railway Group (MMRG) will be opening its doors to the public at the Mickleover Community Centre and MMRG club rooms on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October with a railway 200 theme. Whilst this is an annual exhibition, MMRG wanted to adopt a celebration of railways past and present and highlight the importance the railways have brought to humankind. In celebration of our milestone birthday, we also wanted to highlight the importance that Derby itself has contributed through it’s rich railway history. We would like to support railway 200 celebrations by encouraging younger people to enjoy railways as well as highlight how we can support the local community by encouraging new members to join.
There will be an exhibition of model trains past and present as well as a once in year opportunity to open our doors to the public and see works from our members. We are supporting the Railway 200 Greatest Gathering at Alstom Works in August with a small exhibition run by our volunteer members. We are a club of approx 75 members and welcome membership from all backgrounds. We enjoy exhibiting to and meeting with the public.
