To add an artistic bent to Railway 200, we are displaying many poems at the station. Each poem has a link to Railway 200 (eg marks an historical event during the 200 years, eg celebrates some elements of the history of railways, eg looks forward to railways in the future). Each conforms to the same design format and visual style. Some poems are written especially (by local poets), some are well-known poems by nationally recognised authors. FoHS plan to vary the display of poems throughout 2025, and are also encouraging other “Friends of” groups for stations along the Crewe to Manchester line to display their own poems.
