Railway 200 Bench with Mosaic

The Beds & Herts Community Rail Partrnership has been working with HACRO (Offenders rehabilitation support group in Herts), Year 4 children at The Mount, a local school, and the St Albans South Signal Box Museum to refurbish a bench for the museum garden, inlaid with a Railway 200 themed mosaic. The museum garden is adjacent to the Midland Main Line and the mosaic will depict with elements from the children’s design ideas, the old (Locomotion No1), the current (GTR Class 700) and the future (EMR’s ‘Aurora’ units) in a panel on the seat back. We’re hoping to have this in place ready for celebrations in September during Heritage Open Day events at the Signal Box Musem. The project brings together ex-offenders, volunteers from the Signal Box Trust, schoolchildren, two train companies, the St Albans Arts Group, and the Community Rail Partnership
