Rededication of the Newly Restored ‘Solent Link Electrification’ Map

heritage

Come along on the station’s 184th birthday to the unveiling of the restored Solent Link Electrification mural, and learn about The Friends of Fareham Railway Station, and the volunteer work of Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership, and our local Community Rail Station Adoption Groups.

The ‘Solent Link’ plaque, installed in 1990 by erstwhile British Rail train operator Network SouthEast, to mark the electrification of the rail routes from Portsmouth to Southampton and Eastleigh via Fareham. Has now been returned to its former glory and rightful place on our station, following restoration by South Western Railway and the Three Rivers/Hampshire Community Rail Partnership.

A rededication on the platform is due to take place at 11.00 on SATURDAY 29th NOVEMBER. The 184th Anniversary of the opening of Fareham Railway Station, as part of the Eastleigh (Bishopstoke) to Gosport Line of the London & South Western Railway. Predecessor of today’s SWR and the first railway line to serve Portsmouth – albeit by a ferry connection!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE! 👍
