Ripon & District Light Railway open days

heritage

Narrow gauge preservation project situated on the 1847 proposed site for the Leeds & Thirsk Railway Ripon Station. “Hope no. 2” from the Stockton & Darlington was used on construction work around Ripon. We offer a display of industrial portable railway equipment manufactured by Hudson, Koppel and Decauville together with other industrial artefacts from the same era. These small, but full size, railways bear an uncanny resemblance to Hornby tinplate!

There is limited parking near this site, so please park near Ripon centre and approach us by walking East along the canal towpath from the canal basin. Alternatively you may board “The Pride of Ripon” at the canal basin and ask to disembark at “Seven Mill Wharf”. Our site will be clearly marked with the Railway 200 logo.
