Station Tour of Waterloo

heritagecareersfamily

To commemorate 200 years of the modern railway we are launching a programme of tours with popular tour guide and author Rachel Kolsky. At three iconic London termini – Waterloo, Victoria and London Bridge – we will celebrate rail’s remarkable past, its role today and its importance to a sustainable future they will focus on four key themes: Culture, Heritage & Tourism, Railway People, Education & Skills and Innovation, Technology & Environment

Wonderful Waterloo: Opened in 1848 and once described as being for ‘a better class of commuter’ this tour in and around Waterloo Station reveals the stories behind not one but seven stations and from one, The Station of the Dead, there were no return journeys! Discover links to the past including the station’s role during two World Wars, artwork from the 1951 Festival of Britain, luxury restaurants, contemporary public art and numerous cinematic associations including a news cinema, TV lounge and iconic film locations.
