Thornaby on Track: Remembering Thornaby’s Railway Heritage

An exhibition by Thornaby Council Archives in collaboration with former Thornaby Rail and Depot workers. Features personal recollections of working at the station and Thornaby TMD, with photographs and railwayana. There are also features on industrial sidings and locomotives at Head Wrightson and Bonlea Foundry, and stories from those ‘living below the railway’. This exhibition celebrates the subsequent development of the line to Port Darlington, through Thornaby (South Stockton) from 1830 after the inaugural S&DR railway in 1825.

Open to all ages. Disabled access. Free refreshments and book stall. Saturday 5th April 10.30 – 3pm.
