Michael Bailey has undertaken a detailed examination of the model of the c1812 Murray/Blenkinsop locomotive that is displayed in the Leeds Museum of Industry. The model was both scanned and partially dismantled to reveal that it was never a working model but more of a demonstration model to inform other engineers of its method of operation in both directions. The detail of its component manufacture suggests that it was made by an instrument or clock maker.
