Swindon and Cricklade Railway is a heritage railway in Wiltshire, run and maintained entirely by volunteers.
We will be showing short films, mainly from the BTF archive, displayed using authentic projection equipment in our restored Cinema coach. The vehicle was converted in Swindon works for the Rail 150 celebrations in 1975 as part of an exhibition train, it then toured the country showing films at many locations and was also able to show films on the move.
For the event in September, as well as running our normal train service we will have the Cinema coach static in the platform at our Hayes Knoll station. Passengers will be able to board the train at Swindon Mouldon Hill or Blunsdon station and travel to Hayes Knoll where they can alight and join us in the cinema coach to view a selection of films and learn more of the history of the cinema coach.
