Niños del ferrocarril works to protect children alone and at risk on the streets, in stations and on transport networks – in the UK, India and Tanzania. They intervene early to keep children safe from exploitation, abuse and life on the streets.
Why your help matters
Every year, thousands of children arrive at UK rail stations vulnerable and alone. With your help, Railway Children can reach them before harm does – offering safety, care and a future. Railway 200 fundraising supports this vital, life-saving work.

Darcy’s story
Darcy, aged 14, was found alone at a UK train station after running away from home. Frightened and at risk, she was spotted by a member of the public and reported to rail staff. Thanks to Railway Children’s support, Darcy was safely reunited with her family and given follow-up care. Her experience is one of many that show how early intervention at transport hubs can protect vulnerable children before danger escalates.
“British Transport Police referred me to Railway Children, and they helped me work through things. They also arranged for a social worker to talk to me and my mum. Life is so much better now. I won’t run away again.”
