Biblioteca Lydd – Desafío de la Ruta del Ferrocarril de las Bibliotecas del Distrito de Folkestone y Hythe

patrimoniofamilia

As part of the national Railway 200 celebrations, Lydd Library and the other six libraries across Folkestone and Hythe district in Kent are inviting customers to take part in a fun and engaging railway-themed challenge.

Each library will host a special historical railway display, showcasing the rich heritage of railways in the local area. Visitors will be encouraged to travel to all seven branches, where they can enjoy a different railway-related activity at each location. From creative crafts to interactive games and Baby Rhyme Time and storytelling sessions, there’s something different at each branch for all ages to enjoy. Participants will receive a special library train ticket, which will be clipped at each branch they visit.

Once tickets have been clipped for all seven branches, young participants will be awarded a prize to celebrate their achievement and their journey through the district’s railway history. Completers will also be entered into a prize draw and could win 2x ‘Family of 4’ tickets to Hornby Hobbies Wonder Works in Margate!

If visitors find the library displays interesting and want to explore further, they are warmly invited to visit the Heritage Collection at Folkestone Library Heritage and Digital Access, which houses a wide range of historical materials, including rare documents, photographs, and some artefacts that delve deeper into the rich history of the district.

This initiative aims to bring communities together, promote local history, and celebrate 200 years of local railway innovation and impact. Join us on this exciting journey and discover the stories that connect our towns and tracks.
