The Yorkshire Wolds Railway (YWR) is the only heritage railway in East Yorkshire and is a small fully volunteer run, charity registered railway built on the former Malton and Driffield Junction Railway. Our station at Fimber Halt is right on the trackbed and just across the road from the former Sledmere and Fimber railway station.
Giving brake van rides of around 1/4 of a mile, standing outside on the veranda is a great way to experience not only the YWR, but also the wonderful views around.
2025 will see us not only celebrate Railway 200, but also our 10th year of public operation and the opening of our Visitor Centre and Working Facility – the largest construction on the YWR to date and we look forward to welcoming you along for the journey!
The YWR will be running trains* and opening the visitor centre every Sunday and Bank Holiday from 6 April until the end of October, and every Wednesday during school holidays from 10 – 4.
The visitor centre only will be open every Wednesday from Easter until the end of October from 10 – 4.
