We are excited to welcome you aboard Inspiration, the Railway 200 exhibition train. Here’s what to expect and how to get ready for your visit.

Getting there
The transport and parking options will vary depending on the location where you’re visiting Inspiration.
- Check the website of the host venue or look up the station facilities on the National Rail site if you’re visiting Inspiration at a mainline station
- Find public transport directions to each location from the Inspiration arrivals board on this website. Click or tap the button for the location you are going to, and look for the ‘Get directions by public transport’ link on the location description page, to help you plan your route with Google Maps

What happens when you arrive?
- If you’re visiting Inspiration at a mainline station, please arrive at the train 10 minutes before the time on your ticket. If you’re visiting Inspiration at a museum or heritage site, please allow longer for entry into the site
- Look for signs with the Inspiration logo to direct you to the train or ask a member of station staff or volunteer
- At the train, a friendly member of our team will be there to help you, answer any questions, and guide you onto the train
- Show your ticket to the team — you can bring it printed or on your phone

On board Inspiration
- As space is limited, you’ll have 15 minutes in each carriage to enjoy the displays
- Please only bring a small bag – larger bags won’t be allowed in. Pushchairs and prams (ideally folding) will be allowed on depending on space, but please email us in advance if you plan to bring one. Storage is not available
- You can take photos and videos for your own use
- No food or drink is allowed in the train, apart from water. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited. With the exception of guide dogs or other service animals, no other animals will be allowed on board
- Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times
- Inspiration is stationary at each location it visits, so you won’t be moving during your visit

Accessibility
Different locations will have different accessibility features but all locations will be accessible to wheelchair users. If you’re visiting Inspiration at a mainline station, you can look up the station accessibility features on the National Rail Enquiries site.
- The train doors are 915mm wide for easy access. If you use a wheelchair or scooter, you will need to move between carriages using ramps to and from the platform, as the connecting doors between carriages are narrow
- Mobility scooters are welcome as long as they are no longer than 1200mm, no wider than 700mm and have a turning radius of 900mm or less. The combined weight of the scooter and passenger must not exceed 300kg (47 stone). Because mobility scooters come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and different train companies may have different policies, we recommend that if travelling by train to visit Inspiration you check the dimensions of your non-folding scooter with Passenger Assist on 08000 223 720.
- For larger mobility scooters, a wheelchair will be made available, as long as visitors are able to transfer independently
- Some displays may include looping or flashing screens. If you or someone in your group may be affected, please contact us so we can help
- The train carriages are relatively small spaces. There will be a maximum of 30 visitors booked per 15 minute slot, but you may find it crowded at times
- If you have any accessibility needs or questions, please email us at railway200@gbrtt.co.uk
- On the day, our team is here to help – please ask if you need assistance
Changing your booking
- If you can’t make the slot you have booked, please email us at railway200@gbrtt.co.uk so we can offer your place to someone else
- If you’re running late or delayed on your way, your entry to Inspiration will be at the discretion of event staff, based on how busy the train is when you arrive. We cannot guarantee entry if you are late
- Entry to Inspiration is by pre-booked ticket only. You can check if tickets are still available from the Inspiration arrivals board page
- By attending you agree to our terms & conditions and privacy policy including the possibility of being filmed or photographed
We can’t wait to welcome you aboard and share the story of the railway’s past, present and future with you.
