South West Wales Connected Community Rail Partnership is arranging an event to celebrate the Swansea and Mumbles Railway as part of R200. The event will include a marquee, a small stage and collaborations with councils, community groups and schools to make this a memorable celebration that is long overdue to all come together and celebrate the first ever passenger fare paying railway in the world in 1807.
The event is open to the public, community groups, rail enthusiasts, Rail providers, and the general public.
This is a smaller pilot event that will hopefully continue in the future, as we have a rich rail history in Swansea and many people are still very proud of the Swansea and Mumbles Railway in the year of Railway 200.
