From Friday, 2nd May to Monday, 5th May, 2025, the West Somerset Railway will celebrate Railway 200 by holding a large Gala event known as the Spring Steam Spectacular.
This event promises to be a spectacle, with at least eight full-sized steam engines in action, including several visiting locomotives from all over the country. Next year’s event will be themed around the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the modern railways, by hosting a variety of different steam locomotives, ranging from engines built in the 1800s right through to those built in the 2000s.
Attendees can expert a very busy timetable in operation, with a variety of services including Demonstration Goods, Express, Local and other types.
