Join Stephen K Jones and discover more about the story of the Barry Railway, and how the superiority of south Wales coal led to the construction of the largest integrated dock and railway system in the world.
Stephen K Jones is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, author and historian, with a particular interest in the history of engineering. He is the author of numerous articles and books, including his multi-volume series, ‘Brunel in South Wales’. He is also the author of ‘Barry Railway: Coal’s Last Burst’, which has recently been republished by the Barry at War Museum with support from the South Wales Institute of Engineers Educational Trust. Copies are available to purchase from the Barry at War Museum.
The talk will be accompanied by a display of documents from the Glamorgan Archives collection.
