The Story of the Cromer Express: East Anglia’s most luxurious train

heritage

I give talks to local history groups, WI’s, U3A’s, social clubs etc on a wide range of local history subjects. My great interest is railway’s and several of my talks are about railways, ‘Cromer Express’ is one of them. The group I am talking to on June 3rd is the Friends of Colchester Museum and they welcome non members to their meetings. My talk will start at 7.30pm last about an hour.

This talk is about an express train, but it does also include a brief history of Cromer and seaside holidays telling how the railway made seaside holidays possible for millions, it also includes a brief history of railway catering. As this is the bicentenary I have included a prequel about the Stockton & Darlington and how railways changed the face of Britain.
