Railway 200 is partnering with five charities to raise funds and awareness for their vital work.

Protecting rail memories for the future

Railway 200 is proud to unite with five exceptional charities to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the modern railway and its transformative impact on Britain and the world.

Working to protect rail memories for the future, the campaign will support Alzheimer’s Research UK, Railway Benefit FundRailway Children, Railway Mission, and Transport Benevolent Fund CIO.

Together, we aim to support these charities’ vital work, protect cherished railway memories, and create a better future.

Alzheimer’s Research UK

Railway Benefit Fund: supporting the railway family since 1858

The Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) has been providing essential support to the railway community for over 160 years. This non-membership charity offers financial assistance, confidential advice and practical tools to current, former and retired railway people and their families across the UK.

From grants to legal helplines, RBF is here to ensure that the railway family can navigate challenges and hardships with confidence and dignity.

Railway Children: protecting vulnerable young lives

The Railway Children charity works tirelessly to protect vulnerable children at risk on the streets and across transport networks in the UK and beyond.

Through proactive outreach and training, they have equipped over 11,600 rail staff and British Transport Police officers to identify and safeguard children in need.

Railway Mission: pastoral care for the railway community

The Railway Mission offers independent, confidential and impartial pastoral care to railway staff, their families and members of the public affected by rail operations.

Through regionally based chaplains, the charity offers a listening ear and emotional support in times of personal, professional or crisis need.

Transport Benevolent Fund CIO: a lifeline in times of need

Founded in 1923, the Transport Benevolent Fund (TBF) provides financial and medical support to public transport employees and their families in times of need, hardship or distress.

Members contribute £1.25 a week to the fund. All benefits are available not only to the member but also to their partner and dependent children.
