Handforth Model Engineering Society will be running their miniature railway especially to commemorate Railway 200 – the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. While they’re normally open most Sundays, on this occasion HMES will be running their steam locomotive and their diesel engine on their track in Handforth’s Meriton Park on Saturday the 17th of May. Come along and take a ride on the train – donations of any size are welcome and in this case all profits will be donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The Friends of Handforth Station plan to man a stall next to the miniature railway, to publicise their work, to promote Railway 200, and to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. In addition, the FoHS can provide more information about the planned lift works at Handforth Station.
