Walk The Northern Heights

heritagefamily

Experience a tour like no other. You will be transported from the past to the present as you explore the remains of a railway that was meant to become part of the world’s iconic London Underground network, but never did!

This event has been generously organised by Nathaniel Dodd, who will be your tour guide throughout the day.

You will be guided along the Edgware branch line (originally opened in 1867 by the Great Northern Railway) starting in Zone 1 in the hustle and bustle of Moorgate Underground station, with a finish in the metropolis of Zone 5. En-route, you will find out all about the fascinating history of a line that, by 1941, was meant to form part of the present day Northern Line.

The tour will include: –

  • A trip by train (Govia Great Northern) from Moorgate to Finsbury Park with a history explanation about the line on the train.
  • A walk along the disused railway from Finsbury Park station to Highgate station (Parkland Walk Nature Reserve).
  • A discounted lunch option at The Old White Lion gastro pub.
  • A private tube train trip from Highgate Depot to Mill Hill East via East Finchley on the Northern Line.
  • Finishing with a vintage private bus tour from Mill Hill East to Edgware Northern Line terminus.

With only 28 spaces this tour is the first of its kind and expected to sell quickly.

All proceeds from this event go directly to Railway Children to support vulnerable young people alone and at risk here in the UK, India & Tanzania.
