This extensive ‘O’ Gauge Model Garden Railway is set in a rear Suburban garden in Raynes Park, South West London. Built and operated by Paul Gumbrell over some 36 years! Assisted by his railway like minded friends. Each year it hosts three Gala Open Weekends to visitors (Spring: 12-13 April, Summer: 26-27 July, Autumn: 18-19 October) with entry by voluntary donations to the two charities its supports. The Children’s Society & Holy Cross Church, Motspur Park. During 2025, we will mark & celebrate the 200 years of train travel since 1825, in our own unique way through our Models and full size artefacts.
Established in Raynes Park 1987 and opened in 1988, with 5 ½ Scale miles of ‘O’ Gauge track (7mm -1’ft Scale 1/43) trains happily work their way around the full garden conveying in miniature, passengers and goods to their destinations. The railway comes complete with a tunnel, stations, bridges, goods yard and a harbour, with dockyard cranes, Lighthouse, harbour masters house and associated harbour buildings. To compliment these, the railway also boasts an extensive collection of full size railway artefacts along with its pride & joy ‘The Signal Box’ where you can have a go at operating the full size signals & ring out some bell codes! The railway started in 1972 in Fulham. Then with a house move in 1987 to Raynes Park. Giving the opportunity to really expand the railway with the first open weekend held in October 1988. After a rebuild in the mid 1990’s and again more recently. The railway continues to delight those that assist Paul to operate it and bring and run their various trains for the delight and pleasure of the many visitors that come to the railway on its open days.
