Llangollen Railway Trust are celebrating both the 200th anniversary and the Trust’s own 50th birthday with a series of talks.
The next talk will be held on 14th June with ‘Rails through the British Tyrol’.
In this fourth talk of the series, Llangollen’s Station Master Peter Dickinson explores the history of the Llangollen & Corwen Railway. This 10 mile line was promoted by the Great Western Railway in the 1860s as part of its expansion plans towards the Cambrian Coast. It provided a vital link between the Vale of Llangollen Railway’s temporary terminus in Llangollen to the Denbigh, Ruthin & Corwen Railway’s metals in Corwen. Charting the course of its’ century of operation, Peter will cover the line’s WWI graffiti, royal visits and tragic accidents.
