Movies at Chaddesley, in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside, is celebrating its tenth year with a Festival of Films and other events all based around the theme of trains – as our contribution to Railway200.

On Friday 19th September, we’re screening The Railway Man, starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman in the Village Hall, starting at 7.30.

On Sunday 28th September, we have a round trip on the Severn Valley Steam Railway, including the screening of the iconic short film ‘Night Mail’, in the Engine Shed at Highley plus a short talk from author Nige Tassell on his new book Final Destination, an affectionate tribute to those out-of-the-way railway stations with stories to tell.

On Saturday 11th October, there’s a gala reception at nearby Winterfold School where you can enjoy good wines, canapés and a luxury ice-cream while enjoying that all-time classic,’ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’. This is followed on Tuesday 21st October by a matinée screening of’ Buster’ with Phil Collins and June Walters – you know all the songs!

If you live locally, join us for a family day walk on Sunday 5th October, along the 1883 proposed route that would bring the railway to Chaddesley Corbett – but never did! Meet at the Sports ground for a prompt 9.30 start. Polite dogs welcome.
