The Old Ticket Office has been rented from Network Rail by MP Fine Art Printing for use as their business premises since early 2010. Work commitments mean this original Brunel designed broad gauge station building, which is itself 181 years old in 2025, will not be opening to the public for Railway200. However, free copies of our Discovery Trail booklet for self guided exploration of the station will be available upon request during office hours.
This detailed 28 page A5 size booklet is profusely illustrated with colour photographs of both the station surroundings and inside the old office. Use it to discover easily overlooked items of historic interest and see the mark left by a bullet when a passenger was fatally shot in 1868.
A supporting website, culhamticketoffice.co.uk, is the gateway to a wealth of information about the history of the station and the surrounding area. It features many historic photographs and details the books, postcards, jigsaws and other publicity material published by the Great Western Railway. There are free to download model sheets for both the Old Ticket Office and the original Down platform building, and links to watch special trains passing through Culham and access to online jigsaw puzzles created from our archives.
Special arrangements can be made for organised parties to view inside the building during evenings or weekends via the email address shown on the website.
